Skipjack wild tuna with dill pickle

Made by Wild Planet

These were on sale for grocery delivery. I didn't realize quite how tiny the tins were (85g), but it's a nice snack size.

Inside the tin is water-packed skipjack tuna, with chunks of dill pickles mixed in. The water packing is light---I didn't bother to drain the tin before adding a spoonful of mayo and putting the lot on crackers.

Skipjack is low on the tuna totem pole. It's not as flavorful as other tunas, but is rather lean. The pickle flavor is very "kosher dill". Not bad, but not really the same as, say, tuna salad with dill pickle relish mixed in---there's no sweetness.

The peel-back lid is a nice touch: this is a tin for eating on the go. If you're in a real kitchen, you can do better than this. If you're on a road trip, this tin, a packet of mayo, and some crackers is a lovely snack.
